News Letter December 2011

Tomorrow is Turkey Day and the official start of the Holiday Season, or as we like to call it, "The Eating Season." If given the choice I would spend the entire season in sweats as I have found them to be the most comfortable eating clothes. But vanity is still alive and thriving around our holiday table so I will zip myself into tight pants, feel uncomfortable, eat more than the zipper allows and then rush home so I can get out of those ridiculous pants and into my sweats as there are "the leftovers" and one must be prepared!

We wish you all the very best this Season and New Year.  As we have aged across the seasons we have found health to be the richest gift of all. May you all be blessed with good health and contented hearts.

LHH will be hosting it's sixth year May 31 - June 3, 2012. We scheduled it a few weeks later in the year in hopes of "perfect weather." Last year it was beautiful but the past years have been marginal. So in our continued efforts in the “perfect” category we moved it more into summer.

The 2012 website is just about complete. It is ready for those of you who wish to register early. We did sell out last year and from the amount of early registrations so far it looks like we will have another sell out.

This years event will be 4 full days. Museum tours will be Thursday am and clinics will start after lunch. Our Meet and Greet with the clinicians will follow the last clinic of the day.

Kevin will return as our caterer again this year. There will be two food lines this year and the menu will be changed up a bit. There will always be hot coffee, ice tea and water for our guests at the new refreshment tent.

Expect to see many of our loyal vendors returning and some new exciting ones as well.  If you wish to be a vendor please contact Beverly Blake at 530-273-2377 or

Tall tales and story telling will be back with the addition of a sing along by the campfire. Ron Miller will be returning with his cowboy vocals and we hope to have Grammy nominated hit songwriter from Nashville, TN, Mary Ann Kennedy joining us too.  She has a new CD out called "This Love of Horses".

2011 Clinics

In 2011 we had a wonderful round of clinics. It seems like Eitan was in a different time zone each week. Every year we see the horses and riders improving and this year was a highlight with riders and horses all working hard with well-earned achievements.

OKC 2011

This was an extra special year for me. I finally got to show my much loved Indigo Gold in Western Dressage. As you all know he was a rough start and took a long time to get with the program but boy was he worth the effort and wait. I just love him and this year we were able to compete at the first Western Dressage Classes at our World Championship Show. There were well over 50 riders for this “first time" class. Numbers are expected to rise in 2012 and there is a growing excitement within our own breed as well as many others Eitan and Santa Fe did a few very well received clinics and a very special presentation at the opening of the championship weekend.  It  was great to see friends and share my beautiful horses with them once again in OKC.
